Agitation and Flow - SST Station
|
Because the system is designed only to maintain a precise temperature, the
SST Station features a "Turbulence Reduction System". Turbulence reduction
is vital in a simple laboratory waterbath because agitation can create undesireable fluctuations
in temperature. A baffle plate that purposely inhibits both agitation and flow negates
the SST Station's highest circulation setting of 3.3 gallons per minute.

Minimal agitation results in soluble concentrate accumulating on the bottom of the tank leading
to incomplete and excessively long WaterWorksTM post processing. The
unscreened gap (see above) allows debris and unsecured parts to jam the pump. Note: Although
probably not good for the pump head, small parts ricocheting around the manifold may benefit
from this mechanical action. If not completey destroyed, the accidental removal of some support
material could represent a big improvement in performance.
